The Financial Aid Office at Berkeley College can provide you with information regarding completing your Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) and resources to help in assisting you in financing your education. You can speak with Financial Aid Professional at any of our locations. If you have questions or would like more information, please email us!

It is easier than ever to complete your FAFSA for the upcoming aid year. You can complete your Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by going to the StudentAid.gov website.

Student Self-Service
You can check self-service to see if you have any open checklists and your financial awards. An open checklist is any documents you need to provide to Financial Aid to complete your Financial Aid application process.

Who needs to file the FAFSA?

All students who wish to receive federal or state Financial Aid MUST submit a FAFSA (Free Applications for Federal Student Aid).

What do I need?

• Your FAFSA FSA ID. If you are a dependent student, your parents will also need their FSA ID
• Your Social Security Number
• Your Driver's License
• If you are not a U.S. Citizen, your alien registration or permanent resident card (green card)
• Your (and your spouse's, if you are married) 2020 Federal Tax Return, if you need to complete your 2022-2023 FAFSA and/or your (and your spouse's, if you are married) 2021 Federal Tax Return if you need to complete your 2023-2024 FAFSA. If you are a dependent student, you will also need your parents' 2020 and/or 2021 Federal Tax Return(s). (Note: We highly recommend that you e-file your tax returns)
• Your (and your spouse's, if you are married) 2020 untaxed income records if you need to complete your 2022-2023 FAFSA and/or your (and your spouse's, if you are married) 2021 untaxed income records if you need to complete your 2023-2024 FAFSA. If you are a dependent student, you will also need your parents' 2020 and/or 2021 untaxed income record(s).
• Asset information which includes values of :
o Cash savings and checking accounts
o Properties
o Businesses
o Retirement accounts

How do I complete my FAFSA?

1. Before you begin the process, make sure that you (and your parents, if you are a dependent student) have a valid FSA ID. As of May 10, 2015 you must have a verified FSA ID (Username & Password) instead of a PIN.
2. To create or validate an FSA ID, log in using this link: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch?continueTo=fafsa
3. Enter the requested personal information and continue.
• Note: If you are a continuing student, we highly recommend that you select Start a Renewal FAFSA. This will pre-fill most of the information on your new FAFSA based on last year's information. Please review all information for updates and/or changes.
4. Remember to enter Berkeley College's school code in the appropriate section:
New Jersey: 007502
New York: 008556
5. You can link your IRS data by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. If your FAFSA is selected for verification by the U.S. Education Department, you will receive an introductory email at your preferred email address. The email will introduce the verification process and will come from the following email address: StudentFinance@BerkeleyCollege.edu. Furthermore, you will receive an email from ProVerifier with a link to their portal and next steps. This will come from the following email address: Berkeley@proverifier.proed.org. The ProVerifier portal can be accessed at https://berkeley.proed.org. You will use your Berkeley College credentials to sign in.
6. Important: After submitting your FAFSA application, you will be directed to the FAFSA confirmation page. Please use the “Start your state application” link on the FAFSA confirmation page to complete your state grant application.
